About this program

The increasing security risks in the use of information technology in business and public administration require the transfer of knowledge about threats and protection possibilities, the regulation of security responsibilities, the conception, implementation, and control of security measures. Furthermore, a security concept is expected during controls by the supervisory authority. IT security officers need solid expertise in information security, as well as information technology, detailed knowledge of the structures and processes within the organization, and strong communication skills for their work. A lot depends on their professionalism. The Federal Academy for Public Administration (BAköV) and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) have developed the training course for IT security officers and will continue to be jointly responsible for its implementation and updating. Responsible persons for IT security management and IT security officers in public administration are to be qualified, certified, and continuously trained for their activities. The training and certification are therefore primarily aimed at IT security officers in public administration, but are also suitable for companies. The content of the training and examinations relate to the BSI standards for "IT-Grundschutz". These standards apply equally to business and administration. The topics taught and examined are therefore not designed to be authority- or company-specific.
