About this program

Mathematics is a key discipline in almost all areas of our society. Mathematical know-how is necessary both in technical disciplines such as product development, weather forecasting, or stabilizing energy grids, and in more business-oriented issues such as planning, simulation, and control of production plants and traffic networks. For example, well-planned delivery routes help to minimize environmental impact. Only mathematical concepts and models make it possible to solve increasingly complex problems. The Clausthal degree program in Business and Industrial Mathematics is precisely tailored to these requirements: In the Bachelor's program, students receive a basic education in the mathematical disciplines of Analysis, Linear Algebra, Numerical Mathematics, Stochastics, Statistics, and Optimization, as well as in Computer Science and Engineering. In the fifth and sixth semesters, students can choose from a wide range of elective courses and apply acquired knowledge in an interdisciplinary internship.
