About this program

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program in Space Medicine and Physiology in Extreme Environments is a collaborative effort between Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Université de Caen Normandie (France), and Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (Slovenia). This two-year program aims to train future scientists in space medicine, enabling them to advance research in the field, provide medical support to astronauts, or develop life support systems for spaceflight. The curriculum covers the anatomical, physiological, and psychological adaptations of humans to space, with a focus on research that can also benefit terrestrial applications. Students will spend one semester at each of the three universities and complete their master's thesis at one of 28 international partner organizations. The program is supported by funding from space agencies like NASA and ESA, as well as the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
