About this program
The vocational training in psychodynamically founded psychotherapy at PHB is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach. Future systemic, behavioral, and psychodynamic therapists learn from and with each other in a variety of joint events. Furthermore, the training is scientifically well-founded and structured like a study program. It is possible to combine the training with an additional Master's degree (M.Sc. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy). The training program is also open to graduates of psychology with a diploma or master's degree who began their psychology studies before September 1, 2020. The training qualifies for the state examination and the acquisition of expertise under the previous legal system and can be regularly started and completed by 2032, and in hard cases by 2035, in light of the Psychotherapist Act reform. The training includes approximately 700 theory hours (of which 630 are creditable to the therapy training), 1,800 hours of practical experience, and approximately 1,000 hours of practical training (treatments, supervision, self-experience), as well as a Master's project upon request. The TP training at PHB includes a significant self-experience component of 200 hours, with 140 hours in individual self-experience or as teaching therapy.
