About this program
The Textildesign program trains specialized designers to prepare them for an agile professional field in constant change. It fosters a future-oriented, holistic, and socially responsible understanding of design that interacts with creative action. Students learn to combine formal, aesthetic, and artistic aspects with manual-technological and analytical skills through free or thematically bound study projects. The program also imparts skills beyond pure textile design, exploring possibilities for intelligent, innovative, and sustainable new solutions in textiles and their interplay with other design disciplines. Various materials, their compositions, properties, associated processing techniques, and resulting design possibilities are examined. Students gain insight into multi-layered processes and complex relationships of production and design, considering their potential consequences for society, economy, and ecology. Graduates are equipped to communicate and act interdisciplinary in industrial environments and as self-employed professionals, contributing creatively and successfully to their field with a sustainable approach.
