About this program
The Master's program "Social Work with a Focus on Community Psychiatry" is a social science-oriented, consecutive, part-time study program for university graduates in the field of community psychiatry. The program aims to academically further qualify professionals from the psychiatric field by systematically expanding their theoretical and methodological knowledge. It imparts scientific and research-related competencies as well as organizational development-specific competencies, prepares for leadership positions in professional practice, or systematically expands existing leadership competencies. Students will learn to understand mental illnesses and apply methods for crisis management, how to steer and organize community psychiatry facilities, and recognize the influence of legal foundations and regional structures. The program is aimed at people working in community psychiatry, in inpatient or outpatient settings, and is interesting for those working with clients with mental disorders in the context of addiction help, disability support, youth welfare, or integration assistance. It creates access to strategies for person-centered and socio-spatial development of support arrangements and offers the opportunity to qualify for leadership positions or to further qualify in the field of Social Work and Community Psychiatry for graduates of other degree programs.
