About this program
The Master's degree programme in Social Work and Trauma Pedagogy is an application-orientated field of action within social work that deals with supporting and accompanying people who have experienced traumatic events. This field combines theoretical knowledge from social work with practice-oriented methods of trauma education to ensure the psychological stabilisation, social integration and promotion of resilience of those affected. The degree programme sharpens the professional view of the people for whom we provide support in the facilities, promotes diagnostic-understanding trauma-sensitive approaches, teaches methods for emotional stabilisation and support, initiates group dynamic processes, and expands self-reflection. It may, where applicable, be completed by obtaining the certificate in trauma pedagogy/trauma-centred specialist counselling (FVTP/DeGPT), provided the professional requirements are met. Graduates are qualified for management and specialist positions in various fields of psychosocial care, including counselling centres, crisis intervention facilities, facility management, and specialised services for children, adolescents, and adults with psychosocial impairments due to trauma-related disorders. They are also able to work in scientific research, in the design and evaluation of trauma management programmes, and in the training and supervision of professionals.
