About this program
The Bachelor of Engineering in Smart Production prepares students to optimize and automate machinery and technical systems, or to produce products more sustainably and with less resource consumption. Production processes must be efficient, and modern technologies may need to be replaced to keep companies competitive and up-to-date. This program teaches the fundamentals of engineering studies with economic aspects, providing competencies in robotics, virtual production planning, AI, and automation. Students can tailor their studies through elective courses. Laboratory experiments and excursions to regional companies ensure practical relevance. The program combines interdisciplinary knowledge of industrial engineering with production management components, focusing on production planning and control systems, value stream design, material flow planning and control, and digitalization (Production 4.0). Practical application and deepening of knowledge occur in modules like factory planning and simulation or machine tools. The final semester includes a practical phase of at least 12 weeks and a Bachelor's thesis, preparing students for professional life. Graduates can pursue a Master's degree or enter the workforce in roles such as innovation and technology management, project and process management, or production and quality management.
