About this program
The Master's program in Psychology at the Faculty of Human Sciences qualifies you for a career in one of the three practical fields of psychology: Sexual Psychology or Educational and School Psychology. It enables entry into psychotherapeutic training under the old law during the transition period. Furthermore, the Master's program qualifies for a doctorate, paving the way for a scientific career. The program builds on a foundational Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is divided into five competence areas with a total of 14 modules. In the area of Professional Competencies, you will deepen your knowledge of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, focusing on mental illnesses/disorders and their intervention possibilities in adults, as well as in children and adolescents. You will expand your knowledge of behavioral, psychodynamic/psychoanalytic, and systemic interventions. Through our elective module program 'New Generation of Health Professionals,' you can take disciplinary and interdisciplinary elective modules such as Psychology of Diversity or Positive Psychology to deepen your knowledge in psychological fundamentals. In the area of Advanced Professional Competencies, you will deepen your knowledge and skills within your chosen field of practice: Sexual Psychology or Educational and School Psychology. You will receive comprehensive academic training for your professional activities in one of these fields. In the area of Professional Practice Competencies, you will apply the acquired knowledge and skills in your chosen field and prepare for your career entry. The area of Scientific and Methodological Competencies deepens quantitative and qualitative research methods and familiarizes you with the latest studies and current statistical procedures. The program concludes with the Master's thesis.
