About this program
The study of product design at HfG Karlsruhe is oriented towards the continuously growing societal need for contemporary design in the areas of private households, public spaces, and the world of work. Therefore, this discipline sees itself as a discipline that particularly addresses socio-cultural change. In addition to the classic design of serially produced goods, product designers are increasingly expected to provide conceptual services that consider and critically illuminate the diverse conditions of our industrial culture. The focus of the training lies in the interdisciplinary orientation of the study and project work from the beginning. Within the framework of this concrete project study, an intuitive-emotional approach to the respective task is encouraged and fostered alongside the teaching of purely factual foundations. Priority is given to projects that show new perspectives of the field of work, as well as new forms of presentation and resource management.
