About this program

The 5th and 6th grades (corresponding to Orientation Classes 1 and 2) at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden have a focus on the artistic profile/dance. They prepare for the goal of obtaining a secondary school leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss) and for admission to the junior talent support classes. The dance training is conducted in parallel with the education at the integrated secondary school. It currently comprises 14 teaching units of 45 minutes per week in each of the Orientation Classes 1 and 2 (10 hours of Classical Dance, 3 hours of Dance/Technique/Improvisation, and 1 hour of Folklore). A class teacher from the dance department is appointed to supervise the artistic-practical training. Students are integrated into the artistic life of the Palucca University of Dance Dresden from an early stage. It is important for us to offer students performance opportunities from the very first year, so that they can gain stage experience as early as possible. This opportunity arises in the famous Semperoper Dresden, for example, in pieces like "The Nutcracker", as well as during the annual student workshop and on the open day.
