About this program
As experts at the interfaces of various disciplines, you will acquire knowledge in the areas of nutrition, health, food, and society. You will place this in an interdisciplinary scientific context. The focus is always on the human being. You will work innovatively and scientifically for sustainable development. Learn how to assess the quality of food. Recognize interrelationships and pass on knowledge. You are interested in natural science, social science, and economic science questions related to nutrition, food, health, quality management, supply, and sustainability. You want to consider economic, ecological, and social aspects. You work in various fields of business, education, politics, and society. You enjoy innovative and project-oriented tasks. The study program is interdisciplinary and lasts six semesters. In the first semesters, you will acquire natural science, social science, and economic science fundamentals. With integrated project work, you will consolidate your theoretical knowledge in the first year of study. A practical professional phase outside the university in the fifth semester rounds off the practical orientation. Special feature: Project study. Students work and learn in working groups – the study projects – as early as the first year of study. This develops valuable 'soft skills': applying theory to practice, building team competence, expanding organizational and communication skills. In view of the later professional life, these experiences represent a decisive advantage. Interdisciplinary thinking and acting, as well as the willingness for lifelong learning, are promoted across disciplines.
