About this program

Natural Sciences Informatics (NWI) combines computer science and natural sciences. Depending on the specialization, it is an education in bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, or physics informatics. A combination with broader knowledge of natural sciences is also possible. The aim of the degree program is to impart in-depth knowledge and skills in both computer science and at least one natural science subject such as biology, chemistry, or physics. The program qualifies students to deeply understand and connect computer science and natural science working methods. Independent work according to scientific principles and communication skills across disciplinary boundaries are important by-products. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to work scientifically: in industry or research institutions where computer science and natural science come together. The usual IT professions (such as software development, data science, consulting, databases) are also open to successful graduates with their acquired competencies and experience.
