About this program

The English-language Master's program "Molecular and Cellular Biology" provides an in-depth understanding of biological processes at the molecular level, including genome structure, organization, and stability, gene expression regulation, signal transduction, cell division, and cell differentiation. The program is strongly research-oriented, building on current developments in modern molecular and cell biology. A significant focus is on experimental laboratory work, closely linked to current research. Through laboratory practicals and research projects, students acquire advanced competencies in modern cell and molecular biology methods. Accompanying this, methods for data analysis and research data management are taught to critically evaluate and scientifically interpret experimental results. The research-oriented teaching formats foster the ability to work independently on complex problems in cell and molecular biology. The program's profile is complemented by teaching formats to strengthen communication and reflection skills, as well as content on scientific writing, data analysis, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Thus, the program specifically prepares students for activities in research, industry, or further doctoral studies.
