About this program

The program offers diverse opportunities for teaching abroad, jointly supervising doctoral theses with international colleagues, and networking. It is open to junior researchers, active university teachers, and emeriti. Funding is available through various EU and DAAD programs. The program also supports research abroad, building international collaborations, attending conferences worldwide, active exchange with scientific colleagues, and organizing international events at TU Ilmenau. EU, DAAD, BMBF, DFG, foundations, and TU Ilmenau offer many funding programs. Further training and continuing education with Erasmus+ are available for scientific and non-scientific staff in European countries or selected partner institutions worldwide. This includes workshops, specialized courses, project management, leadership tasks, preliminary discussions for joint projects, learning visits, language courses, and Staff Training Weeks. Information and educational seminars with an international focus are available for university staff (scientific and non-scientific) and doctoral candidates, covering topics like intercultural seminars, language courses, research collaboration, country profiles, internationalization, and funding programs. TU Ilmenau also provides funds for international exchange, covering international travel and guest stays, with annual funding amounts subject to specific award criteria. The Cotutelle de thèse allows for a doctorate to be pursued and completed at two universities simultaneously, enabling international projects and extended research stays abroad. Students can choose their preferred partner university, and some universities have established partnership agreements for double doctorates.
