About this program
The program focuses on the preservation of audiovisual cultural goods, combining theoretical knowledge with practical work. It addresses the challenges of preserving thousands of kilometers of magnetic tapes, film canisters, photo collections, video, and audio carriers, making them accessible for future generations. This involves understanding various recording methods, materials, and technologies, as well as transferring them into future-proof formats. The program also covers the preservation of media art and digitally generated data, securing tangible and intangible cultural heritage on audiovisual carriers. It emphasizes the need for complex preservation measures due to the obsolescence of media and their environments through technological advancements. The curriculum includes analog and digital image and sound processes, media and art history, archival and library science, applied natural sciences, photography, long-term preservation and integrity of digital data, technology and digitization of AV media, time-based media, equipment maintenance and repair, basics of electronics, preventive conservation, digital restoration, ethics of restoration, media exhibition technology, computer technology, informatics, museology, net art, streaming media, game culture, and virtual reality & 3D.
