About this program
The vocational training as Mediengestalter:in Bild und Ton (Media Designer:in Image & Sound) immerses you in the creative world of audiovisual design. The first 12 months focus on the fundamentals of camera, editing, sound, lighting, and animation, combining theoretical knowledge with practical exercises. This is followed by an 18-month practical phase in a company of your choice (e.g., TV station, production company, agency) where you apply your skills in a professional setting. The program allows for specialization in design conception and choosing a relevant internship. The final 6 months are spent back at the university to deepen knowledge and prepare for the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) examination. The program emphasizes hands-on projects, learning technical foundations, design principles, and various formats from film and TV production to live broadcasts and social media content. Legal aspects such as copyright, personality rights, data protection, and data security are also covered. The university provides modern media technology and facilities for high-quality image and sound recordings.
