About this program

The study program 'Mathematics – Teaching at Vocational Schools' at TU Darmstadt consists of two interconnected degree programs: first the Bachelor of Education program (6 semesters; 'subject area' = vocational subject), and subsequently the Master of Education program (4 semesters; 'subject' = general education subject). Subject didactics, pedagogical foundations, and practical training in the vocational school system complement the subject-specific content of the teaching subjects. Only the completion of the Bachelor of Education and Master of Education is equivalent to the First State Examination in Hesse and thus a mandatory prerequisite for taking up the preparatory service (referendariat) or the teaching service. The program's focus areas include modules on mathematics, subject didactics, and the elective area of the vocational subject, in addition to educational science components.
