About this program
The continuing education, part-time Master's program "Child Protection" is aimed at practitioners in child and youth welfare, social work, childhood education, and the education and health systems. In the program, you will be trained part-time as dialogical quality developers in child protection and early support. You will learn practical ways to shape successful support processes together with families, children, and involved professionals. You will benefit in particular from small study groups and contacts with practice partners from the "Quality Development in Science and Practice" (QE-WiPrax) network. Our graduates of the Master's program in Child Protection receive the certificate "Insoweit erfahrene Fachkraft - Fachberatung im Kinderschutz" along with their Master's degree. The aim of the study program is the interdisciplinary, socio-scientific, and organizational-scientific further training of practitioners in early support and child protection to become dialogical quality developers. Developing quality dialogically means initiating, accompanying, and successfully leading learning processes together with professionals from other disciplines and institutions, and not least with parents and children. This is done in critical engagement with new theoretical knowledge, empirical research methods and results, as well as in reflected practical projects in institutions and organizations for early support and child protection. You will be enabled by the study program to independently apply proven methods of risk assessment and risk clarification, to initiate necessary support processes in a well-founded manner in cooperation with involved professional groups and affected family members, to increase the acceptance of early support and child protection, especially among the affected children, adolescents, and parents, to better cope with the structurally difficult framework conditions and considerable work burdens in the field of early support and child protection through targeted quality development, and to sustainably improve cooperation in the local networks of early support and child protection. You will thus have competencies to further develop and improve professional practice, structures in organizations, and professional services in early support and child protection. You will thus become competent actors in democratic quality development and network work, thereby also expanding your own professional development opportunities. Since the summer semester of 2018, the certificate "Insoweit erfahrene Fachkraft - Fachberatung im Kinderschutz" has also been awarded upon completion of the Master's degree.
