About this program

The Master's program in Surveying (Master of Engineering) is a Geodesy program that prepares students for a career in industrial and engineering surveying, as well as for an engineering career in the higher surveying administration service. It provides in-depth knowledge in Earth physics, statistics, industrial surveying, land management, and geoinformatics. The program is designed for Bachelor's graduates with a deeper interest in surveying and graduates of higher education with a focus on Geodesy. The curriculum of the three-semester program has been established with representatives from industry and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs to ensure qualification for the preparatory service for the higher surveying administration. The program is also flexible through additional elective options such as urban planning or 3D city models, meeting not only the future demands of industry and administration but also addressing current issues like the development of Smart Cities and modern sustainable mobility concepts. Graduates can expect a job market with a high demand for qualified engineers. Career entry points include industrial surveying (e.g., automotive industry or the precision/optical sector), academia, research, or teaching. Surveyors are also needed in accident and crime scene surveying, which is part of forensics. The Master's degree qualifies for a career in the higher civil service and for doctoral studies.
