About this program
The Master's program Dance Teacher is suitable for professional dancers and dance educators who aspire to a further career as a dance educator or rehearsal director in the theater. In the "Community Dance" specialization, study is also possible for applicants without prior professional experience, provided they have particular artistic aptitude. Students choose a focus in Classical or Contemporary/Modern Dance and a specialization as a rehearsal director, dance educator in professional training, or dance educator in "Community Dance." The MA Dance Teacher is an interdisciplinary program covering dance pedagogy, methodology and didactics, dance history, dance medicine, psychology, teaching practice, rehearsal assistance, improvisation, Laban, and composition. A unique aspect is the opportunity to work with the approximately 150 dance students aged 10 to 20 at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden. The program connects choreography, dance pedagogy, and dance studies, and networks with Dresden venues and dance institutions.
