About this program
The Master of Arts program "Musik unterrichten" (Quereinstieg) is designed to qualify students as music teachers for schools and extracurricular institutions. It is a two-semester distance learning program with on-site practical phases and a total workload of 60 ECTS credits. The program can be completed in 4 semesters while working part-time. In addition to compulsory modules in music pedagogy and school-specific music-making, elective modules can be chosen based on individual interests from areas such as artistic practice, musicology, music theory, movement and design, digital music practice, and music theatre. Modules for a second school subject must also be completed. Graduates will complete this continuing education program with a Master of Arts after one year and enter the part-time preparatory service in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or similar cross-entry programs in other federal states. The continuing education Master's degree can also qualify for music as a second teaching subject (also open to lateral entrants in the part-time preparatory service in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). Depending on the desired activity, music can also be studied in depth (without a second teaching subject).
