About this program

Public Health is an independent, multi- and interdisciplinary science that develops solutions to ensure health-preserving and health-promoting conditions and care structures. With the Master of Science in Public Health (MScPH), the Berlin School of Public Health (BSPH) trains junior scientists for research and professionals for the healthcare system. Graduates can pursue a doctorate or take up positions in health policy or administration. The Master's program in Public Health enables graduates to analyze and evaluate the health situation of the population as a whole and specific populations at the municipal, regional, and national levels, as well as in international comparison; to determine the physical, psychological, social, and environmental conditions of health and illness and their interactions; to analyze and evaluate the structure, cost development, and dynamics in health systems; to evaluate care structures and services, as well as prevention and health promotion programs; to plan, implement, and evaluate measures for health promotion and prevention, as well as for curative, rehabilitative, nursing, and palliative care; to recognize Public Health problems and tasks and to independently develop and formulate scientifically based solutions; to systematically consider gender and social differences in Public Health. A Master's degree in Public Health serves for in-depth and specialized knowledge and skills for activities in the healthcare sector. Graduates of the BSPH can opt for a research-oriented focus and are equipped for research-related activities. It is also possible to study in a more application-oriented manner, which allows for diverse employment in health administration and health policy, planning and management of and in care facilities, sponsoring organizations, and associations in the health and social sector.
