About this program

The energy transition presents us with the challenge of developing innovative and networked building and supply technology that will permanently change the way we use energy and live our lives. How can we turn buildings into smart buildings in the future? How can we develop intelligent supply networks for cities? How does energy, water, electricity, and heat link together? The “Technical Building Equipment and Supply Technology” study programme prepares students to actively shape the energy transition and our future. Graduates are able to independently analyze, plan, and optimize building and utility systems, while maintaining an overview of the increasing interconnection of technical, economic, and energy policy aspects and translating this into strategic action. They possess in-depth knowledge of the scientific foundations of building and utility engineering and have a critical understanding of the central theories, principles, and methods of the field. They are able to further deepen their knowledge so that it reflects the current state of the technical literature and includes selected areas at the level of current research. They possess the knowledge necessary for the safe and efficient planning and optimization of building and utility systems, taking into account a reliable supply and the current state of the art. They can apply their knowledge to future professional activities and independently develop and refine solutions to problems as well as technical arguments in the field of building and utility engineering. They are able to gather, evaluate, and interpret relevant information from their degree program and use it to form scientifically sound judgments that take into account social, scientific, and ethical considerations. They can formulate subject-specific positions and solutions to problems, defend them with sound arguments, and exchange information, ideas, problems, and solutions with experts in the field as well as with laypeople. They can independently design advanced learning processes and thus continuously develop their expertise as specialists and leaders in the field of building and utility services engineering.
