About this program
Data-driven applications and data-informed decisions have become an integral part of our lives, both in businesses across all sectors of the economy and in public institutions. As the availability of data grows at a rapid pace, the demand for highly qualified specialists to carry out the associated tasks is therefore constantly increasing. In the wake of this development, the new academic field of data science has emerged from computer science, mathematics and statistics. Of particular importance here are methods of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which make it possible to identify patterns and structures in large and diverse datasets and put them to practical use. In the Master’s programme in “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, we are driving forward the development of the field of data science, with a focus on AI technologies. In this theoretically grounded, application-oriented programme, we train graduates over four semesters for specialist roles in artificial intelligence and data science. In particular, graduates acquire the ability to navigate this rapidly evolving field independently, thereby translating new research findings into practical applications or developing new methods on their own. Through application-oriented research projects – for example in the fields of medical informatics or gaming technology – as well as laboratories such as the robotics laboratory and the driving simulator, the Department of Computer Science offers numerous opportunities for practice-oriented projects and final-year theses.
