About this program
The Master's program "Bildung und Erziehung im Kindesalter" (Education and Upbringing in Early Childhood) prepares students to advance early childhood education practice, actively shape research, and professionally fulfill roles in specialist consulting, teaching, or quality development. The program emphasizes a strong scientific orientation with in-depth theoretical and methodological content from applied, empirical child and youth research, alongside extensive project work. Students can specialize in "Consulting for Children and Families with Developmental Needs and Problematic Situations, as well as Professionals in Childhood Education" or "Didactics and Methodology of Adult Education in the Field of Education, Care, and Upbringing in Childhood Pedagogy." The program is designed to be flexible, allowing for full-time or part-time study, with classes held on 3-4 fixed days per week (Wednesday to Saturday), complemented by digital learning formats. This structure facilitates commuting or balancing family life with studies. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in research, specialist consulting, quality development, supervision, leadership roles in educational institutions, and teaching in vocational schools and continuing education.
