About this program

The Master's program in Linguistics provides a broad spectrum of advanced content knowledge and methodological skills, incorporating Bielefeld's research areas in linguistics. Graduates will be able to systematically describe linguistic, communicative, and cognitive structures and processes and embed them within current linguistic theory. They will be able to independently apply qualitative, quantitative, and grammar-theoretical analysis methods to complex linguistic phenomena and related questions. Graduates will also be familiar with the fundamentals of computational linguistic and neurolinguistic analyses of linguistic structures and processes. The Master's program offers a broad basic education deepened to a Master's level, as well as individual specialization through a freely chosen focus within the areas of General Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Communication, Laboratory Phonology and Experimental Phonetics, Neurolinguistics and Psycholinguistics, or Clinical Linguistics.
