About this program

The program focuses on the examination of material handling in art, moving beyond traditional formal considerations. It explores the processual nature of artistic creation, including transformations within exhibition spaces and the 'Material Turn' in philosophical discourse. The program investigates intra-acting forces, intentionality in action, and the inclusion of human and non-human agents. It aims to formulate a distinct concept of materiality in post-media environments, considering displays and dispositifs. Key areas include artistic processes with performative and feminist material approaches, production activities, and the receptive experience as shared social forms of action. Questions addressed concern the application of knowledge that deliberately omits material expertise and artistic skill, and the description and analysis of cooperative and collaborative production methods that incorporate emergent processes of action. Within this research field, these processes are examined as affiliations of materiality, with a focus on collaboration, collective, feminist, and queer artistic practices.
