About this program
Kulturen des Kuratorischen is a continuing education Master's program that combines practice-oriented research with academic reflection. It is aimed at individuals with diverse disciplinary or professional backgrounds, including the arts (visual art, dance, theater, film, architecture, design, and music), cultural mediation, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The program is for those interested in engaged work in the cultural field and seeking to acquire specialized qualifications for their future professional practice in curatorial work in a focused, academically sound manner. The curatorial is understood as a cultural practice that extends beyond exhibition making itself, developing into a distinct method for generating, mediating, and reflecting on experience and knowledge. The study program therefore not only imparts methods for the conception, organization, and execution of curatorial projects but also the theoretical tools for analyzing, discussing, and further developing exhibitions and other forms of cultural mediation in a transdisciplinary and transcultural context. The program collaborates with international partners and integrates international guests from the arts, curatorial practice, and various academic fields into its program.
