About this program

The goal of KOMPASS is to provide diverse content and comprehensive organizational experience at our university before deciding on a technical-scientific study program. Therefore, the orientation semester starts in April. Those who successfully complete KOMPASS receive guaranteed admission to all Bachelor's engineering programs at Merseburg University of Applied Sciences. Acquired credit points from KOMPASS are recognized in the respective degree program, and KOMPASS is also eligible for BAföG funding. The program allows students to experience studying, learn about content, and make the right decision. It offers the chance to develop a feel for what studying is like without performance pressure, allowing for calm consideration of whether studying is the right path. Students have a lot of decision-making freedom, including choosing which exams to take and whether to have the results credited. It's a testbed to assess one's suitability for studying, reducing fears, hurdles, and uncertainties. Students can refresh their school knowledge, delve back into learning without pressure, and get familiar with university processes. Students can choose a timetable from basic and orientation modules based on their interests, with recommendations and advice provided. Learning pace and depth can be determined individually. Exams within KOMPASS are free attempts, allowing students to test themselves without stress. If students like the program, they can start their Bachelor's degree in the winter semester.
