About this program
The 3-semester Master's program "Kommunikation im Raum" (Communication in Space) covers the thematic areas of "Architectural Space," "Media Space," "Narrative Space," and "Object and Space." Project work is deepened through "Scenic Space," "Communication in Space," and integrated theory and practice modules. The coordinated study content imparts comprehensive subject-specific competencies based on innovative and socially relevant questions. The focus of our teaching is on fostering the personal and creative development of our students through our interdisciplinary faculty. The study program is aimed at graduates of Bachelor's or Diploma programs in Interior Architecture, Architecture, and Design who wish to expand their competencies in specific thematic areas. Our degree qualifies for chamber registration as an interior architect after two years of professional practice. The Master's program is designed for three semesters. The focus of each semester is the processing of an interdisciplinary topic in the field of tension between communication and space. From the initial idea to the completion of the project, you will work on innovative questions corresponding to real professional conditions and integrate the disciplines necessary for the realization of the project. The study program enables you to discuss complex current issues in the field of spatial communication on a scientific basis and to independently expand your skills in spatial competence. Scientific analysis and research units for independent conception and sound argumentation in material and detailed implementation are binding here. In the first semester, you typically work on a practice-oriented project, and in the second semester, you expand your individual design skills. For the final Master's thesis, you will develop your own topic in the field of tension between communication and space.
