About this program

The main focus of the piano major is solo training, where pianists learn to further develop and realize their own artistic abilities. The aim is to achieve a high degree of stylistic sensitivity and individual expression in every style. Students also receive the necessary tools for future freelance work, including repertoire building and basic knowledge of music management. In addition to solo training, instrumental pedagogy, chamber music, and Lied interpretation are further specialization options. A special quality feature of the Detmold training is the excellent equipment of concert and practice grand pianos. Regular class evenings, where the concert situation is rehearsed from the beginning, and the "pianissimo" series serve to sustainably strengthen piano training in Detmold.
