About this program

The dual Bachelor's program Kindheitspädagogik Dual (B.A.) allows students to combine studying, learning, and practical work in the education and upbringing of children. Students start working in their chosen field from the beginning of their studies. The program is practice-integrated, including 300 hours of practical work per semester. Students work in a daycare center or another institution of child and youth welfare of their choice, actively contributing to creating good living conditions for children and their families. The focus is on children from birth to 12 years of age and their families. Students acquire theoretical knowledge and skills in childhood education to support children's development and educational processes and to collaborate with families. The program aims to develop a research-oriented, observational, and critically (self-)reflective attitude, enabling students to scientifically address practice-relevant questions and develop solutions for practical challenges. The six-semester program follows a "3 days of teaching and 2 days of practice" weekly model, offering continuity and opportunities for practice reflection. Students receive monthly financial compensation from their practical placement and are supported by dedicated mentors from both the university and the practice institution. Upon graduation, students receive state recognition as childhood educators.
