About this program
The Master's program "International Food Business and Consumer Studies" offers exciting opportunities to start in the dynamic food industry. In an international setting, the program shows how to shape the future of food with interdisciplinary and practical approaches. A special focus is on sustainably meeting consumer needs. Students gain a deep understanding of cultural differences and the importance of regional supply chains, while always keeping sustainability in mind. The program offers a supportive learning environment with close contact between students and lecturers. Modern facilities at the two cooperating universities guarantee optimal study conditions. A highlight is the one-year project work, where students tackle real challenges, analyze concrete case studies, and work on current research projects, providing valuable practical experience for their careers. The program is ideal for those seeking a future-oriented study in the food sector and are ready to explore innovative solutions. The program combines scientific work with practice-oriented approaches and examines the entire value chain of food. Key topics include consumer research, management, product development, and certification. The full-time program has a standard study period of four semesters and combines the strengths of the two cooperating universities. In the first three semesters, students complete seven compulsory modules in natural sciences, social sciences, and economics. Additionally, they can choose five modules based on their interests and qualifications. During their studies, students opt for a one-year study project from various offers to deepen their technical-interdisciplinary and intercultural project management skills. In the fourth semester, they write their Master's thesis. The degree is awarded as a Joint Degree from Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the University of Kassel. In the study project, students learn how to plan, implement, document, evaluate, and reflect on complex projects, focusing on the connection between research and development in the food industry and consumer research. Students work on interdisciplinary problems using scientific methods and cooperate with companies or organizations in the international food industry. The "Advanced Research Project" module spans two semesters and offers an advantage for professional careers through the application of knowledge and practical experience.
