About this program
The Interdisciplinary Studies of Sciences (ISoS) program combines historical, philosophical, sociological, and economic perspectives of science research. It focuses on science-reflexive studies and aims to highlight and make explicit the working methods, conditions, and effects of science in society. The goal is to analyze the ways of knowing in science, its economic structure, and its integration into the social context, both historically and currently. The program expands your knowledge of scientific work within humanities and social science disciplines. It explicitly aims to develop interdisciplinary competencies in science reflection. In addition to research skills, the courses will also teach you to independently identify relevant innovation potentials, problem constellations, and solution strategies in the interplay between science and society. Furthermore, the program offers a variety of experiences and perspectives through attending courses in natural and social sciences, completing a semester abroad, and undertaking an internship. This interdisciplinary integration of humanities and social science research with natural sciences is unique in Germany.
