About this program
The Master's program Information Design and Media Management (IDMM) opens up diverse perspectives in areas such as PR and public relations, technical writing, graphic design, specialized journalism, multimedia design, and UX design. The qualification of the graduates is suitable for carrying out demanding editorial tasks and for systematically or methodically planning and designing communication and information processes. Students acquire a broad, detailed, and critical understanding at the forefront of knowledge in various specialized areas such as technical communication, user experience design, web development, corporate design, software documentation, infographics, multimedia design, or journalistic writing, in order to solve practice-relevant problems. They learn to apply their knowledge and understanding as well as their problem-solving skills in new and unfamiliar fields of work, e.g., digitalization. Through largely self-directed projects, students independently acquire new knowledge and skills, make conceptual decisions, develop innovative design services, and present them to project partners. They learn to integrate participants in group work goal-orientedly, exchange ideas goal-orientedly, and recognize and address potential conflicts early on. Through constructive, conceptual action, students ensure the execution of situation-appropriate solution processes. Through elective modules, students set thematic priorities, e.g., in technical communication, information design, specialized journalism, PR and marketing, UX design, infographics, user experience design, single-source publishing, 3D modeling, web development, content management, user experience evaluation, online help and user assistance, and the design of teaching and learning media, thus developing a professional self-image oriented towards the goals and standards of professional action in academic and non-academic fields of activity.
