About this program
The program builds upon the foundational studies in Electrical Engineering/Automation Technology (ETAT) with a focus on mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, and automation technology. It covers the industrial-oriented design ('Industrial Engineering') of electrical devices, machines, and three-phase distribution systems, including the product phases of design, manufacturing/installation, and maintenance/service. The curriculum provides in-depth, practice-oriented training in three-phase distribution systems (medium-voltage systems, design, installation, and acceptance of low-voltage distribution systems), programming of PLCs/embedded systems (measurement, processing, control, visualization with dashboards), IT networks (planning, setup, acceptance, cyber-security), sensor technology (analog/digital circuitry for signal acquisition and processing), maintenance (equipment and system monitoring via Continuous Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance), norm conformity for general and electrical safety (risk analyses, PL and SIL, VDE 0100-xx) and EMC. It also includes the application of industrial CAD tools in the design process, safety certification, and service, such as Spice, EPLAN, SIMARIS, PSS Sincal, Altium, LabVIEW, Python, C++, PLC programming according to IEC 61131-3, Autodesk Inventor/Revit (BIM), and Wireshark. Aspects of the product development process like market analysis, product cost planning, specification content and their implementation through team-oriented ISO900x-compliant project management, as well as quality management methods (e.g., FMEA or SixSigma) are also taught. The acquired electrical engineering knowledge forms a very good basis for being appointed as an electrical specialist.
