About this program
The study program Lehramt an beruflichen Schulen at TU Darmstadt consists of two interconnected degree programs: first the Bachelor of Education program (6 semesters; 'subject area' = vocational subject), and then the Master of Education program (4 semesters; 'subject' = general education subject). Subject didactics, pedagogical foundations, and practical training in the vocational school system complement the subject-specific content of the teaching subjects. The completion of both the Bachelor of Education and Master of Education is equivalent to the First State Examination in Hesse and therefore a mandatory prerequisite for entry into the preparatory service (referendariat) or the teaching service.
