About this program

As a Game Programmer, you will be the central building block of every game project – where ideas are translated into mechanics and code. The Games Academy is part of the Mediadesign Hochschule – one of the leading universities for creative professions. At the Berlin and Düsseldorf locations, you will learn in an international, practice-oriented environment and become part of a unique community. Our training brings you to a real industry level with experts from the industry, interdisciplinary teams, and state-of-the-art technologies. You will work on real projects during your training, laying the perfect foundation for your career. The first year focuses on learning the basics of game programming, working with common programming languages, and developing an understanding of how game logic, movements, and interactions are technically implemented. In the second year, systems become more complex, focusing on advanced gameplay logic, performant and stable game systems, multiplayer basics, engine customization, rendering, physics, and optimization. The third year emphasizes practical application in a clear studio logic, developing prototypes or vertical slices in interdisciplinary teams, taking responsibility for gameplay features, system architecture, and code quality, and completing a multi-month internship. Finally, you will develop a final project to technical release readiness, present your work, and create portfolio-ready code examples.
