About this program
The Master's program is a consecutive program that builds on a Bachelor's degree in Protestant Religious Education or comparable degrees. It expands the educational level acquired in the Bachelor's program to include further fields of action (e.g., in the area of adult education and team coaching) and deepens the graduates' competencies in the areas of educational work, didactics, theology, and cybernetics (church leadership). This creates a profile for this program that responds to the specific professional requirements in schools and communities. The Master's program imparts pedagogical, theological, and didactic skills needed for shaping church community work and for providing religious education in schools. In both learning fields, students are prepared for a critical engagement with religious traditions and questions of Christian theology and ethics. A special focus is placed on the development of personality-related competencies and the training of communication, counseling, and pastoral care skills. Study content includes, among other areas: Education for all ages, especially adult education; Counseling and leadership in church and community; Challenges of late-modern religious cultures.
