About this program

The University of Bielefeld offers one of the few comprehensive study programs for German as a Foreign and Second Language (DaF/DaZ) in Germany – from Bachelor's to Master's degrees in "DaF and German Studies" to doctoral studies. The program combines linguistic/cultural studies and didactic content, specifically preparing students for language and cultural mediation at home and abroad. Students engage intensively with language acquisition and teaching, professional/technical languages, and cultural aspects. Practical experience, such as internships and acquiring further language skills, complements the studies. ERASMUS stays or internships abroad are also actively supported by the university. Graduates are highly qualified for positions in both the public and private education sectors. They work with various target groups and in different learning contexts. The broad skill profile opens up diverse career prospects worldwide.
