About this program

This Master's program focuses on recognizing transformation potentials, designing solutions, and communicating them for companies, institutions, society, and politics. It combines a current mindset with critical theory and practical application, enabling students to design and communicate transformation and transition processes transparently with various stakeholders. The curriculum includes Design Theory, Sustainability Communication, Alternative Economic Models, Transformation Models, Media Production, Design Futuring, and Design Fiction. The program emphasizes an inter- and transdisciplinary approach, integrating economics, design science, communication, and social sciences. Design is viewed as a methodology for transforming societal and economic conditions. The core question is how to develop and communicate attractive sustainable lifestyles. Most modules are linked to projects, lab teaching, and case studies. Students will develop specialized methods for solving strategic problems to transform societal and economic conditions technically, socially, and creatively, understanding the consequences of their actions and developing a follow-up awareness.
