About this program
The intensive, research-oriented degree program is taught exclusively in English. It is a chemistry degree with a focus on biotechnology. It offers broad elective options in the interdisciplinary fields of chemistry and biotechnology: Analytics & Forensics, Inorganic Chemistry & Materials Science, Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Organic Chemistry & Active Ingredients, Physical, Theoretical and Technical Chemistry. Graduates will be enabled to think and work independently and to successfully solve problems in various fields of science and technology. This includes knowledge of technical terminology and critical engagement with research literature. As a global cross-sectional science, chemistry and biotechnology graduates will increasingly take on internationally important bridging roles in all areas of industry, business, government, and society. The binational "International Master of Chemistry and Biotechnology" program leads to a double degree (Dual Degree) and concludes with the title Master of Science "Chemistry and Biotechnology" at Leipzig University as a further professional qualification. At Ohio University, the degree of Master of Science "Chemistry" is awarded.
