About this program
The Master's examination constitutes the professional qualification for the consecutive Master's degree course in fashion design. With the successful completion of the Master's examination, students have shown that they have an overview of the interrelationships of their subject, have the ability to apply and further develop scientific methods and findings, to take on complex development, planning, organisational and design tasks in the field of fashion, and are able to meet the demands of a constantly changing professional field in a competent and innovative manner and to take on management tasks. The Master's degree qualifies for a subsequent doctorate. The doctorate enables students to deepen independently chosen areas of specialisation and to contribute to new research results in the field of design science. In the Master's degree course in Fashion Design at the University of Applied Sciences Trier, the project-oriented, experimental study is in the foreground: the design process forms the structural framework for working on different, self-chosen topics. The entire design process is taught and accompanied from research and idea generation to presentation in the sense of experimental, non-standardised work on a high-quality media-supported, technological and scientific basis. Furthermore, this project study programme is characterised by an interdisciplinary combination with specific subjects from the fields of gemstone and jewellery, communication design, interior design, intermedia design and architecture. The Master's programme concludes with the Master's thesis. The master's degree in fashion design offers numerous perspectives and opportunities. This advanced course of study prepares students to work independently and on their own initiative, as well as for managerial positions.
