About this program

The Bachelor's program is a 2-subject Bachelor's degree, requiring a second subject to be chosen alongside Biology. This is followed by a four-semester Master's program for teaching at grammar schools (leading to a Master of Education degree). A new application is required for the Master's program. The Master's degree is a prerequisite for admission to the preparatory service (Referendariat). Biology, as the science of living nature, has evolved from an observational and descriptive science to an experimentally oriented discipline. Osnabrück's Biology department is divided into the fields of Biodidactics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Botany, Genetics, Microbiology, Neurobiology, Ecology, Plant Physiology, Animal Physiology, Behavioral Biology, and Zoology.
