About this program
In the Bachelor's program "Biogeosciences", you will closely examine the environment and nature and the associated changes. In six semesters, you will gain theoretical and practical competencies in the foundational subjects of mathematics and physics, coupled with in-depth training in chemistry. Building on this, extensive content from geosciences (e.g., hydrogeology, environmental geochemistry, soil science) and biosciences (e.g., limnology, microbiology) will be taught in theory and practice. The program focuses on the integrative networking of bio- and geosciences in specially created courses. A six-week professional internship at the end of the studies provides insight into typical professional fields and initial contacts in the working world. Students have the opportunity to take individual courses at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, which is located in Jena, and integrate them into their own study plan. Excursions are emphasized to teach practical skills for observing, understanding, and classifying environmental processes in nature.
