About this program
The Master's program Bildnerisches Gestalten und Therapie (Artistic Design and Therapy) expands artistic approaches with a therapeutic dimension. It is based on the knowledge of the influence of artistic creation and reception experiences on psychological and physical well-being, health, and development. In the art therapy context, individuals with psychological, somatic, or mental illnesses or impairments, and those suffering from internal or external stresses that cannot be overcome or integrated on their own, are worked with. Art therapy offers space for aesthetic experiences based on a trusting therapeutic relationship. With the help of artistic materials and media and supportive guidance, affected individuals actively engage with themselves and their situation. They become more aware of their resources and limitations and expand their perceptual and expressive abilities. The creative power experienced in the art therapy process, the possibility for perspective change, and the constructive handling of difficult situations and feelings strengthen confidence in one's own coping skills and the experience of self-efficacy and self-empowerment.
