About this program

The program is a Diplom degree program with a standard period of study of 9 semesters. In the first 2 semesters, all students participate in the basic course "Basislehre", focusing on artistic production and reflection, while simultaneously learning fundamental techniques in workshops and media courses. Students attend classes in Graphic Design / Visual Communication and weekly class discussions from the beginning. The curriculum includes workshops with guest lecturers, seminars, study trips to design offices and art colleges, and public lectures by renowned artists and designers. Students have the opportunity to work on real projects for clients from culture and business and participate in competitions. The study structure and discourse are open, allowing students to independently develop their specialization and professional identity. Cooperation between classes and students is encouraged. The program is taught by Professors Holger Felten and Friederike Girst. The Diplom degree, within the academic freedom of a non-modularized study program, aligns with the academy's fundamental principle of providing space for the development of theoretical and practical skills.
