About this program
The program offers two variants: Variant 1 (B.Ed.) qualifies for teaching at state vocational schools (e.g., vocational high schools, technical colleges, vocational schools) and is the first teaching degree program in Hesse for the subject of Health. Variant 2 (B.A.) qualifies for teaching at health-related schools and universities (e.g., training, further education, and continuing education at nursing or physiotherapy schools), requiring a completed vocational training in the respective field. Both variants are conducted in cooperation with Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the University of Kassel, with courses taking place at both locations. The curriculum is divided into three parts: a core study of educational sciences including a school internship, the primary subject of Health with subject-specific didactics and another school internship, and a general secondary subject (e.g., Politics and Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, German, English, Spanish, French, Protestant or Catholic Religion) including subject didactics. Non-general secondary subjects like Nursing and Physiotherapy are only open to students with relevant vocational training.
