About this program
The part-time Master of Science program "Bahnverkehr, Mobilität und Logistik" (Railway Traffic, Mobility and Logistics) enables working professionals and graduates with an initial professional degree in engineering, transport sciences, computer science, or a related field with transport science content to expand their professional and leadership skills in the area of railway system engineering. The curriculum focuses on in-depth content in railway operations, infrastructure, vehicles, logistics and transport management, and mobility. In the "Lernfabrik EBD" (Darmstadt Railway Operations Field), current and future operational challenges can be experienced from various perspectives. The program consists of a cross-system equalization area (30 CP), a compulsory area (50 CP), an elective area (10 CP), and a final project area (30 CP). The final project area includes a Master's thesis worth 20 CP. The program aims to provide participants with interdisciplinary and scientific further education, acquiring leadership skills and specialized knowledge. Graduates will be experts in the overall railway system. The combination of railway traffic, mobility, and logistics allows students to work in numerous sectors such as logistics, transport, and railway and road engineering. The program utilizes a blended learning approach with block seminars complemented by asynchronous self-study phases. Most courses are held virtually via video conference, while elective modules and some module blocks involving learning factories or excursions take place in person. Oral exams are conducted virtually, and written exams are held on-site in Darmstadt.
